CLINTON ROAD

This diorama is actually made of almost 100% hardware store materials.  I crafted this on some spare time at work (I work in a hardware store) out of makeshift materials I found around the store.  The base that everything is mounted on is an old shelf from the register that they were getting rid of.  For the building itself I spray painted a piece of cardboard grey, and added the lines with black marker.  The windows are pieces of Plexiglas with a self adhesive screen patch placed over it to simulate grating. The window casings are made of two different sizes of self-adhesive foam weather-stripping cut and adhered around the windows. The down spout is 5"gutter ferrules with a mitered end Velcro-ed to the wall . The fence is made of hardware cloth fastened to metal dowels, which were cut, bent and ground-down to achieve the desired shape, with little pieces of 18 gage wire (see detail) in order to hold the two together. The barbed wire is a single strand of the hardware cloth with some of the cross pieces still attached. I made the dumpster out of cardboard, duct tape and aluminum flashing. The bags are small pieces of garbage bags filled with Styrofoam and tied with a twist tie. The can is a 35mm film container with handles made from aluminum flashing. The only thing that didn't come from the store was the small strip of grass mat in the front.

I would also like to send my thanks to John (JFAK075) for his help with the planning and building of this diorama.
