Once a big attraction to Staten Island teenagers,
Bedell Ave in Tottenville is now just a dark road with expensive homes.
At one point, 3 - 4 years ago this road was supposidly haunted. Upon driving
down the road, you saw what appeared to be blurry but unmistakeably a person
hanging from a lamppost. Once you got close enough to really see it for sure it
just disappeared, not gradually faded.
Also along with this there was a story about a boy riding
down the road, in what i really dont know, and flying off the cliff at the end.
Since theres no cliff at the end, i cant really be sure. But he supposidly
haunted this road. Maybe at one point there was a cliff, Now its just flat earth
that leads to the water.
The house that was said to bring the hanging person burnt
down twice. Once was rebuilt but when arsonists got it a second time the owner
gave up. Now, as said before, there are just expensive new homes, as well as
ugly condos and two family homes at the beginning of the road.
There was also a man who would chase you out of the street
with a shot gun when this road was a popular spot. He may have been the houses
inhabitant, or just someone else living on the road that was annoyed. But who
could blame him, the summer this road became popular there were numerous cars
driving up and down at all times of the night.
Now as you approach the road, theres no ghostly vision of a
person hanging, just the dark piece of woods leading to the new homes. The dark
piece of woods is still frightening but definatly not worth the drive to the end
of staten island for.
