LAMBERTVILLE PAGE 2 (PICS FROM 2005 TRIP)
Lambertville High School seems to be a popular attraction among those looking for a good scare or a place to hang out. Located on the NJ/PA border, I've read you can see it from the New Hope side of the River. We however couldn't locate it that way.
Built in 1854, its suffered two fires. One destroying most of it in 1926, It was rebuilt a year later. There was then another fire in the early 90s, some say 1992..some say 1995.
As for official closing, I have no date.
Its hidden on a dead end street, that creeps eerily up a hill side. Covered by trees, the skeleton of the top floor just peaks out to those looking for it.
Sadly neglect, arsonists, and kids have destroyed most of this sight.
Many say that it might be slated for demolition in the near future.
August 2004
Late one night, we decided it was time for a new exploration. We sifted through the choices we had... There's numerous spots I've been researching and putting together information on to visit and we chose Lambertville. We defiantly went off half assed on this trip. Lambertville was defiantly a far trip for us, and the further we went the more we realized nature was not on our side tonight. Fog began lightly but got to be so thick we could barely see. We tried anyway, scouting out several streets it could be on. We weren't sure much more then it was on a dead end, and up on a hill. After a couple hours, we gave up. With the fog and darkness - it wasn't gonna happen. We vowed to go back 2 days later, with further information and day light on our side.
August - Friday the 13th....
A thank you to
PhyscoNewJersey.com should definatly be placed here..Instead of us wandering to
find it, they were kind enough to help us.
The day started off with all kinds of bad news, and time was definatly not on
our side.
Hours later then we wanted to arrive, we began our exploration. With a third person in tow, which is strange for jay and i, we wandered the halls for an hour or so. Noting that even with the fire and people destroying it, there were still many items left in the building.
When we arrived, two girls were running up the front steps, leaving their car in plain view of anyone driving up the street. All we could do was shake our heads. By the time we had our lights and cameras ready, they were gone...thankfully.
Although we found no evidence of the "haunted chalk board" stories.
Two of our favorite things of the school was the Gravestone outside - which unfortinatly was spray painted by vandals - and the tape o matic.
We found no evidence of hauntings, perhaps the ghosts were taking an afternoon nap. But it was a cool place to explore.
Room after room, we found evidence of the lives that were lived out here. We were amused to find a classroom that could only be described as Home Ec class. With Ovens, Sinks and Tables..It definatly wasnt the cafeteria being such a small room.
We also found the bathroom, which typically some adventurer or vandal felt the need to relieve himself in.
Eventually we hope to get in a night exploration before the place is demolished. Any update will as usual, be posted here.

MAY 8 2005
While looking for somewhere to re-visit lambertville was brought up. Of course i couldnt remember where it was, and again had to enlist the services of Lloyd from PhyscoNewJersey.com help me out with this one.
Much of the building was as I had remembered, but apparently we had not fully explored the building last time.
A good portion of the 3rd floor has fallen into the floor below, leaving large amounts of rubble to navigate on the 2nd floor. This time we climbed over the rubble to explore the remainder of the building. I feel I should add that the walls floors and ceiling in this and of the building are in really bad shape, and there are a few holes hidden in the debris.
Also as a side note, the Pratt & Whitney Tape-O-Matic is an old milling machine, dating before computer control. The machine read a tape with holes in it that told the machine what operations it was to perform.
